Frequently Ask Questions
About Fuel Injector Servicing and Cleaning
Is fuel injector cleaning necessary?
Generally petrol fuel injectors will perform their best when the fuel system has been carefully maintained throughout the service history of the vehicle. Fuel injectors are a serviceable and are subject to carbon build up and tiny bits of debris that have made it past your fuel filter. In most cases, you will start to notice signs like poor performance, idle issues, cold start problems, stuttering/hesitation and poor fuel economy. Injectors also have o-rings and manifold seals that eventually will loose their ability to stop fuel leaking or preventing un-metered air entering the engine.
Should I DIY clean my fuel injectors?
We don’t recommend DIY cleaning and have seen many attempts on all types of petrol injectors. In most cases a problem will still remain. Incorrectly matched o-rings, internal contamination and damage to injector nozzles are just some of the reasons why DIY cleaning is not recommended. We use precision tools to safely remove all serviceable parts of the injectors as well as professional equipment designed specifically to remove contaminates without causing damage to the injectors. We also individually size and match up replacement seals/kits to ensure the best result possible for your fuel injector service.
What does a fuel injector service and clean cost?
Our prices start from $38.50 per injector for specific OEM injectors and will vary depending on injector type/serviceable parts. For Direct Injection SIDI. GDI and FSI injectors prices start from $66. Direct Injection injectors take a lot more time to ensure the best operation. Their operating conditions are much more harsh compared to simple port injection and have a much higher failure rate. Extra charges may apply for the restoration of extremely contaminated injectors.
Do you service diesel or piezo injectors?
Currently we do not service or cleaning diesel or piezo injectors. We specialize in petrol fuel injector reconditioning and servicing. Even though piezo injectors are petrol, there is not enough complete data released to ensure we can clean then back to factory oem specification.
Can you clean performance injectors like Injector Dynamics or modified Bosch?
Yes! We can definitely service your performance fuel injectors! When it comes to high octane racing applications, we provide the best injector cleaning service possible. We do not rush the process to ensure every effort has gone into maintaining your performance injectors. With anything performance related, we will match up all o-rings and service components where possible and give you professional advice as to what we’re found doing the process.
My performance street car/race car runs E85 or methanol, can you still service the injectors?
Absolutely! In fact, any alcohol based fuel system should have a regular clean to ensure the injectors are flowing the correct amount for what they’ve been tuned for. All too often we see customers bring in injectors that have sat for too long with alcohol based fuels and it has completely impaired the injectors ability to function properly. With our data sheets you’ll know exactly whats going back into your motor.
My vehicle is going to the dyno but the fuel injectors have sat for a while, what would you recommend?
Is using an injector cleaning additive for my fuel tank effective?
Do you sell injector service kits or seal kits?
I don’t live in QLD, can I still get my fuel injectors serviced by Injector Clean?
My injectors are very old but I wish to still use them for a restoration project, can you help?

Dyno day! Everyone looks forward to their new performance tune and being able to enjoy it to the fullest! One thing that is all too common is a car going on the dyno and not doing what it’s supposed to. Ensure your injectors are supplying the correct amount of fuel for your target HP and get an injector service before your dyno tune. That way the tuner knows exactly what to expect when working on your ecu tune.
In theory, yes they work. But only to a certain point. They may loosen carbon deposits built up on the end of the injector nozzle however; they will not remove any debris caught in the filter basket or stuck internally within the injector. Sometimes, they can make things worse as there’s no way to tell exactly what (if any) impact it’s had on your fuel system. If you suspect any form of contamination, we highly recommend removing the injectors so we can service them properly and ensure they’re doing everything they should.
Yes we do! We require as much information as possible prior for the injector type prior to making up a kit or alternatively, bring in a sample injector and we’ll match it up on the spot. We have a huge range of seals available!
We pride ourselves on providing the best service possible. We welcome any injector work from interstate. Should you require our services please don’t hesitate to call or contact us through our contact page.
Old petrol injectors are usually highly sort after for many reasons. Replacement injectors are rarely the same in terms of spray pattern and consistency. We can recondition your old injectors (providing no internal damage is present) to look and perform like new. Check out our Reconditioning page to see some before and after results!
