Petrol Injector Servicing & Reconditioning
Restoring performance to your old fuel injectors
Brief overview of a factory fuel system
As per our our ‘Factory Injector Service‘ page, our injector reconditioning and servicing follows the same procedures. The main difference in this service is due to these old injectors having steel bodies, we can take the process one step further and have them looking like brand new! With the options of high temp coatings, can can give these injectors new life which are typically found in your old school projects such as injected holden 304’s or perhaps and an old JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) relic like the 80’s model supras.
The main advantage to this service is that old bosch or denso style injectors tend to have superior spray patterns and are highly sort after in the performance and restoration world of motor cars. Examples would be that the Bosch Indy Blues or Whites are a common upgrade for mazda performance rotary’s. With a high flow rate (typically 1600cc) with a wide cone spray pattern, these injectors provide perfect atomization and high flow volumes to maintain steady idle and tuning properties. They are hard to come by brand new so reconditioning is the best option to ensure your performance targets are met or give new life to a new build.
How we approach our factory injector cleaning and servicing
With the all the information outlined above, we take our injector servicing very seriously. After many years of working in the petrol fuel injection industry we have carefully analyzed common issues that are frequently found in factory or modified EFI set ups. Although we aim for an efficient turn around time, we do not rush any of our injector jobs for the sake of getting quantity done over quality.
Please note: Full injector servicing and reconditioning can take additional time in order for our high temp coats to cure. Whilst we aim for a reasonable turn around, some factors are out of our control (such as rain or extreme humidity). This can sometimes result in a longer turn around time however, the finished results are always worth the wait!
Our process involves:
- Getting as much information from the customer – vehicle make/model/year/fuel type used/reported problem
- Visually inspecting for:
damaged o-rings worn or hardened manifold seals
carbon deposit build up
fuel system contamination - Testing of coil ohm reading
- Before flow testing results (if applicable)
- Striping down the injector removing all serviceable parts including o-rings
buffers
manifold seals
extension caps
filter baskets
spacers
etc… - Externally cleaning and removing contaminates, dirt, rust, staining (where possible)
- Deep multi-stage ultra sonic cleaning (no rush, visually clean results must be observed before processed is finished)
- Refitting all renewed and matched seals and serviceable components
- Multi-stage flow testing at various RPM, pulse widths etc… inspection of spray patterns and consistency
- Final flow test and data results labeled accordingly to match each injector
- Final high temperature coating applied – usually to replicate the original finish whether it be black or stainless
